Track re-opening good news for surfers

It was a case of the City of Wanneroo moving from a risk-aversion position ” close the area to vehicles and eliminate the possibility of accidents ” to a risk-appetite one.

The latter, adopted by corporate and governance organisations, settles on accepting a level of risk, putting conditions in place to mitigate liability and then monitoring the

situation.

So Wanneroo set about opening the track last week only after fencing off side tracks, erecting new signs, doing minor widening and patrolling it at the weekend with rangers.

It looks like this will now be its approach, along with engaging the 4WD community, until the urban sprawl reaches the area and the land is turned over to prime seaside housing, possibly by the end of the decade.
