Alkimos shipwreck plays host to WA Open Water Swimming Series event

SWIMMING WA’s Open Water Swimming Series returns to water near the Alkimos shipwreck for a third time this summer.

The series, which is in its 10th year, includes 14 events across Perth and regional WA from October to March for swimmers aged nine to 99.

Shorehaven at Alkimos estate developer Peet Ltd will sponsor stage nine on February 11, with swimmers stepping into the waves in front of Waterfront Park from 7.30am.

The event is expected to attract 300 to 400 competitors swimming courses of 500m, 1.25km, 2.5km and 5km.

Spectators are welcome and there will also be beach games, family-friendly activities and entertainment offered.

Round seven of the series will take place at Sorrento on Australia Day and round eight will be in Rockingham on February 4.
