The Northern Beaches Cycling Club (NBCC) member from Kingsley will join his older peers in the criterium challenge on February.

His father Brendan said Curtis, who has been cycling since he was four, would be lapping the course as fast as he could for 15 minutes, then do two more laps.

Mr Atkinson said because Curtis was the youngest racing member, he generally got a time advantage.

‘It’s just difficult for him at the moment because there are not many people his age group in that race,’ he said.

NBCC president Chris Howard said Curtis already had a fanbase at local races.

The challenge will start at 7am. Spectators are welcome.
