On a cold morning, the A-grade field was given an even frostier reception by an eccentric resident who lays claim to the public road adjacent to her property.

The elderly lady and male companion were seen to lead two horses on to the road to disrupt the race.

The continuing development of the NBCC masters squad was in evident with the largest team in the B-grade field.

Kylie Anticich led an initial three-rider break for four laps, with new recruit Michael Buytels bridging from the Peloton.

The peloton was given an old ‘1-2’ touch-up as soon as they reached the initial breakaway and attempted to recover. Mark Welford immediately attacked with another rider for a second break. Joined by a third rider, they successfully held off the peloton for five laps.

Welford went on to claim second with a strong finishing Buytels fifth.

The strong podium results moved NBCC into third place (111 points) and reduced the points gap to the frontrunners Team Brooks (129) and Riders Choice (124).
