ENTRIES are open for the Lancelin Ocean Classic, which will take place held next year from January 12 to 15.
The four-day event will include two windsurfing events – wave sailing and marathon, kitesurfing events – waves and marathon as well as an ocean paddling event.
One of the world’s best known water sports championships, the event supported by Tourism WA and the Shire of Gingin has been held annually for more than 30 years.
It attracts contestants from around the globe, bringing together professionals and amateurs who race for a competitive prize pool.
Following from the success of last year, organisers from Project 3 said windsurfers and kitesurfers will complete the same 25km marathon course on the Saturday, with Sunday a reserve day.
“This is the second year in the long history of the event that the windsurfers and kitesurfers will be competing on the same course, following growing demand from athletes,” spokeswoman Tiffany Lake said.
“This will make it a huge day for competitors and an exciting day for spectators.”
