From next year, the event will receive funding from Tourism WA’s Regional Events Program, which is funded by the Royalties for Regions program.
Tourism Minister Kim Hames said the race was a home-grown event that attracted competitors from across the globe and had helped cement the town’s reputation as a windsurfing destination.
“The Lancelin Ocean Classic started in 1986 when a small group of windsurfers held a 25km race from Ledge Point to Lancelin,” he said.
