Jakovich hosted the evening, keeping things light and humorous as he asked Thompson questions from his early playing days at Essendon and coaching Geelong before briefly talking about his appointment as stand-in coach for Essendon.

The event, to raise money for the Cervantes Tiger Sharks Football Club, included raffles and a sports memorabilia auction that shocked many guests with West Coast Eagle parents Peter and Leonie LeCras bidding on and winning a signed Essendon jumper.
