Life member Carol Osman, who started as a player in 1974 and has since coached and served on the committee, said the club initially had three teams.

‘Now we’ve got eight teams; at the moment it’s growing,’ she said.

‘We are the longest-running (sports) club in Yanchep, except for the golf in the park.’

The club trains at Yanchep District High School and plays in Wanneroo.

Mrs Osman said highlights over the past four decades included winning premierships and winning the Spirit of Netball award through the Wanneroo District Netball Association.

‘I like seeing the girls come through and I like to see where they go,’ she said.

‘Sport is good grounding for children. I’ve seen some nice kids come through.’

The club will have an afternoon tea reunion for past members at Yanchep Inn on August 24, while current players will celebrate the 40th anniversary at the club’s end-of-year presentation.
