Northern Beaches Cycling Club find success in teamwork

TEAMWORK was the order of the day from masters racing held at Kewdale on Sunday.

In D grade, Northern Beaches Cycling Club (NBCC) teammates Rebecca Schultz, Matt Cruickshank and Chris Howard shared the majority of lead out work, controlling the pace and leaving the field to respond to surges in pace.

Richard Stokes was able to save his best for the finishing straight to take first place.

In C grade, again the majority of the race was led out by NBCC riders, with David Self, Kyle Anticich and Chris Jackson setting up Duncan Rogers to claim second on the podium.

In B grade, a strong breakaway of four riders succeeded in pipping the field, with Justin Schultz the best placed NBCC rider, finishing 13th.

Road cyclists are invited to join the NBCC social club ride this Sunday for a trial ride.

Arrive by 6.15am, opposite the Cheescake Shop, Pensacola Terrace, Clarkson for a briefing on group etiquette and courtesy towards other road users.

Groups are paced from 25km/h up to over 36km/h no new rider is dropped during the group ride.

A roadworthy bike, helmet and spare tubes are required.

Ride duration takes about one to two hours and finishes for a social coffee at Essence Cafe in Clarkson.
