After eight years at the helm, Chris Howard stepped down as president at the 2017 AGM.

“I must admit, it was hard to let go of something I love so much, but it’s really healthy for the club’s future that we have so many willing to pitch in,” he said.

“New leadership from Rebecca Schultz will also offer a fresh perspective and only invigorate the club further.”

Schultz is joined by Richard Reeves as vice-president, Malissa Reeves as treasurer and Anna Heitz as secretary.

Mark Papadopoff returns as director of mountain-biking facilities development and Mark Welford returns as director of masters racing for a very successful NBCC masters team.

With an aim of making cycling more appealing for more women, Wanda Jansen and Corlia Van Mostert double as women’s development directors.

Founding member Richard Stokes takes on the role as director of social riding.

Committee members also include Nick Vroomans, Jon Kelly, Tom Austin and Matt Cruickshank.

Howard has retained his coaching, junior development and facility development roles.

The club needs sponsorships ranging from spot prizes for social riders’ contributions, through to race team sponsorship for junior, women’s and men’s teams.

It is also looking for community partnerships to establish WA’s first dedicated education, training and racing facility for kids and adults.
