Quinns Rocks Cricket Club’s invitational XII (4-152) was defeated by two wickets when it took on Hong Kong’s Kowloon Cricket Club, which was captained by Campbell and included international player Chris Carter.

The clash was somewhat of a family affair with Quinns’ captained by Campbell’s brother Mark and the brothers’ 15-year-old nephew Fraser Moore lining up for Kowloon.

Winning the toss, Quinns batted first and opening batsman Luke Taylor stood tall as wickets fell early.

A solid partnership between Sam Barnes and Jamie Burgess lifted the home side to a competitive 152 with Burgess making 50.

Kowloon in reply started brightly, after losing an early wicket, with Campbell making a quick 43 before being caught LBW.

Carter steadied the ship with a mixture of deft touches and lusty hitting to put the game on a knife’s edge.

Enter Luke Taylor, who took two wickets in one over to swing the momentum back to Quinns.

But Kowloon was resilient in response, eclipsing the hosts’ total on the second ball of the final over in an exciting finish.
