WHILE older Olympic athletes compete for medals in Brazil this week, junior athletes are celebrating their own success closer to home.

Clarkson resident Omeara Louange (14) and Butler’s Dylan James (14) recently won several medals representing WA at the 2016 Under 14-15 International Meet in Singapore.

Competing against athletes from Singapore and Malaysia, Omeara won gold in the triple jump, silver in high jump and bronze in the 4x100m and 4x400m relays.

Dylan won gold in the triple and long jumps as well as the 4x100m relay, and bronze in high jump, and was named the U14 boy athlete of the meet.

The pair train with the Ridgewood Little Athletics Centre (RLAC), which will hold a registration day for next season on September 3.

“We are looking forward to the new season beginning, especially with the Olympic Games currently underway in Rio, backing up a very successful season,” president Dean Smith said.

Mr Smith said they looked forward to the continued improvement of athletes at state level.
