YANCHEP Bowling Club and Yanchep District High School have teamed up to teach teenagers tricks of the turf.
Bowling convenor Andrew Robertson said the club was keen to promote the sport, which had shifted from its traditional association with seniors.
“Lawn bowls is a recognised sport in its own right, recognised by the Commonwealth Games as a major activity for both men and women,” he said.
“The number of countries participating in the sport is increasing every year.”
The club introduced a free program with YDHS this month to teach students how to play lawn bowls at its greens.
Mr Robertson said the club wanted to attract members to guarantee its future and to encourage young players to compete in the State under-17 championships.
“There are no age limitations – no one is too young or too old,” he said.
