FREE open water swimming clinics for anyone aged over 10 will be held in Alkimos starting from Sunday.
The come-and-try clinics will be held in the lead up to Swimming WA’s Open Water Swimming Series round at Shorehaven Beach on Sunday, February 3.
Hosted by Swimming WA and Peet, they will feature coach Ralph McManis from Newman Churchlands Swimming Club offering tips and tricks for open water swimming.
Swimming WA commercial operations general manager David Johnson said the clinics were a great opportunity for “swimmers who are new to open water swimming, as well as experienced swimmers who want some additional help in the lead up to the Shorehaven round”.

Shorehaven will host round nine of the Open Water Swim Series, which is expected to attract more
than 300 swimmers competing at 500m, 1.25km, 2.5km and 5km.
Since the series kicked off at Leighton Beach on November 3, there has been a record number of open water swimmers taking part.
After Shorehaven, only three more rounds remain at Bunbury, Cottesloe and Scarborough.
This will be the fourth time the Open Water Swim Series has been at Shorehaven in its 11-year history.
