Staff ReporterNorth Coast Times

The second round in the Navy Surf Rowing League will take place on Quinns Beach from 8am on December 1, with clubs from across Perth competing.

QMSLSC vice-president and surf boat captain Des Choake said three of their crews would take part, including the Quinns White, who were gold medallists in last season’s masters 180s.

Choake said that crew and the Quinns Blue would both row in the reserves this weekend, while the U23 Quinns Kool Kuts would compete in the 23s and open categories.

‘The club is looking forward to the event as it is the first time the club has hosted an event in its 30-year history,’ he said.

‘The event is the second round of four and is going to host about 35 crews from up and down the coast and as far away as Esperance.

‘The competitors, apart from training for this competition, give many hours of volunteer time to the community in the form of surf education and patrols,’ he added.

Choake said they were keen to showcase the beach and the club, with the competition finishing at noon and spectators welcome.
