Swim School Merriwa members win medals at WA Junior Lifeguard Club State Titles

MEMBERS of the junior lifeguard program at The Swim School in Merriwa won several medals at the state competition recently.

Jurgens Wilson won the eight and under category at the Royal Life Saving Society WA’s Junior Lifeguard Club State Titles on June 19.

Fellow Merriwa member Juliette Hodgson tied for second with Ballajura Aquatic Centre’s Jonas Thomas, while Narrin Hubbard (Merriwa) took third place.

In the 10 and under category, Merriwa swimmer Andrew Brookmire came second behind Altone Park Leisure Centre’s Caitlin Allcock and ahead of third-placer Megan Kikiros (Terry Tyzack Aquatic Centre).

Another Merriwa swimmer, James Hodgson placed second in the 12 and under competition, between winner Alexa Bevilacqua (Fremantle Leisure Centre) and third-placed Ashley Blaquiere (Ballajura).

Tops spots in the 14 and under competition went to Caitlin Brazil (Central Aquatic Swimming and Lifesaving Club), Kiran Letchford (Cannington Leisureplex) and Freddy Leman (Fremantle).

Cannington’s Rhys Abernethy won the open category, followed by Ben Fitzpatrick (Fremantle) and Bowanne Chrisp (Ballajura).

Swimmers from Wanneroo Aquamotion were also among 100 children taking part in the state titles at the Terry Tyzack Aquatic Centre.
