YANCHEP archer Danie-Louis Oosthuizen (16) recently represented WA for the third time in the Youth National Archery Championships in Armidale, NSW.

The four-day event hosted more than 100 young archers from around Australia who shot the disciplines of target, field and clout.

Danie-Louis, who shoots a compound bow in the cadet division, won a bronze medal in short course, silver medals for target and field and a gold medal in clout.

After finishing the championships he stayed on an extra couple of days to compete in the Youth National Matchplay, which was a knock-out competition, and finished fourth overall in a shoot off for bronze.

Danie-Louis is a member of the Benara Bowmen Archery Club, which shoots every Saturday morning at the International Shooting Complex in Whiteman Park.

He is looking forward to the next event on the shooting calendar, WA’s State Field held over the WA Day long weekend in June, and hopes to represent Australia one day in World Archery Competitions.
