Green light for Pinjarra’s Murray River Square and foreshore redevelopment

OPTION 1 for the Murray River Square and Foreshore Redevelopment at Pinjarra has been endorsed by the Shire of Murray, following feedback from the community. .

The option employs a traditional village square approach with a tree framed open turf area for the square providing uninterrupted views from James Street to the grassed slope leading to the Murray River.

Shire president David Bolt said it was one of three options recently presented for public comment.

“This option is driven by a direct correlation of heritage style materials with the existing built form and provides maximum flexibility for events,’’ he said.

“EPCAD Landscape Consultants will now proceed in the development of a comprehensive concept plan detailing, among other specifics, levels, materials, vegetation species and furniture items.

“The concept plan will provide sufficient detail to understand the project scope and enable the preparation of tender documents.

“The final concept plan will be advertised for community consideration before the concept is considered for adoption by the council.”

Adoption of the plan is expected by November with construction in early 2019.
