PINJARRA Senior High School student Harry Bidewell scored what is believed to be the school’s highest ever ATAR result.
He will now go on to Curtin University to study for a double degree in engineering and data science and is aiming for a career in renewable energy and other innovations or improvements that will make the world a better place to live.
Originally from Norfolk, the 17-year old migrated with his family to Australia in 2007 and attended Carcoola Primary School and Pinjarra Senior High School.
Harry has always been a strong student across all core subjects but really cranked up his efforts in the last few years to maximise his ATAR score.
He did particularly well in chemistry, maths, physics and English.
His raw ATAR score was 98.7 and this was scaled up to 99.95 at Curtin University which is the highest score achievable.
Harry won Dux of the school and has received a Curtin Scholarship of Excellence.
A keen sportsman, he has played basketball and AFL footy for Pinjarra Juniors, also representing his school and town in Country Week competitions.
After leaving school he still plays basketball twice a week and umpires for the local basketball club.
He is a big fan of the West Coast Eagles and Perth Wildcats and watches all their games.
He also enjoys movies and music, with Tom Cruise and Ed Sheeran among his favourite stars.
His family – Pinjarra businessman Kevin Bidewell, mum Sue and two younger brothers Jake and Luke – are very proud of him, saying he worked hard for his achievements but has taken everything in his stride and maintained a fun loving and sporty personality.
