WA Police have charged a man over a New Year’s Day crash that saw a woman seriously injured after her car burst into flames.
Police allege that about 3.40am a Ford sedan was travelling north on the wrong side of Bussell Highway when it hit a Subaru sedan head on.
The Subaru, driven by a woman in her 50s, caught alight and the woman needed help from a passing motorist to get out the car.
She was taken to Royal Perth Hospital by the RAC Rescue Helicopter with serious but not life-threatening injuries.
The driver of the Ford, a 20-year-old Italian national, received minor injuries.
He has been charged with dangerous driving occasioning grievous bodily harm.
He is due to appear in the Margaret River Magistrates Court on January 21.
