REGISTRATIONS for the Shire of Murray’s 2018 Banners in the Terrace competition are open and local artists, schools and community groups are encouraged to enter.

Shire President David Bolt said the competition was a fun and creative way the community could showcase talent with the potential to represent the Shire on a state level in Perth.

The competition offers a significant platform to promote the district to the wider WA community and for entrants to participate in one of WA’s biggest annual community art competitions.

“The Shire takes pride in submitting a banner each years and awaits the range of entries that this year should depict the theme Ready and Relevant,’’ he said.

A $100 prize will be awarded to the designer of the winning banner with $50 each for the two runners-up.

The winning design will be digitally transferred to a big vinyl banner and will represent the Shire of Murray on St Georges Terrace or Adelaide Terrace, Perth for the 2018 WA Local Government Convention and Trade Exhibition between July 22 and August 4.

Murray Districts Historical Society member and now Shire councillor Brenda Beacham won first place last year.

Interested people must register and submit their art work before Thursday, April 12.
