Pinjarra Swim Club puts in strong performance at Country Pennants

Jill BurgessMandurah Coastal Times

PINJARRA Swim Club took part in the annual Country Pennants competition hosted at Mandurah Leisure Centre, attended by 32 regional swimming clubs.

Twenty swim club members attended the event taking the ‘plunge’ to achieve some amazing results.

Members broke two records that have stood for more than 20 years – Rani Romeo broke a girl 11 and under breaststroke record that has been in place since 1996 and Angel Dodrell broke the girl nine and under 50m freestyle record, in place since 1997.

All the swimmers put in 110 per cent and some came away with qualifying state times in individual races and relays.

Every swimmer also achieved personal best times with a medley of trophies for their efforts.

They were supported by coaches Truusha Dellow and Debra Revell.

Sponsorship for the uniform was received from Bodyworks Mandurah and H and N Perry Real Estate.

This was rewarded with Pinjarra Swimming Club being awarded the best group presentation plaque for the club parade.

Overall within the grade, Pinjarra Swimming Club came a close second to bigger swim club Busselton but are geared up to bring the trophy home next year.

Trophies and awards are displayed at Murray Leisure Centre, Pinjarra where the club trains.
