Comedian Jez Watts bringing The Nasty Show to the Regal Theatre

COMEDIAN Jez Watts is bringing back The Nasty Show as part of the Perth Comedy Festival.

The South Perth resident developed the offensive stand up comedy show about three years ago, for the Perth’s Fringe World, after a fellow comedian had complained to him about the sense of restriction he felt in using crude and somewhat cringeworthy content during a show.

Watts said the idea was to create a place where comics could freely showcase material that they perhaps couldn’t get away with in their own shows.

He was initially nervous it wouldn’t be widely accepted.

“We thought we would get in trouble and that people were going to get angry at us, so we were really surprised when our first shows completely sold out,” he said.

“It seemed to be a niche that has sort of grown into this thing where we are doing more and more national and international shows and are making money which is rare in comedy and I think more of a surprise to us than anyone else.”

The Nasty Show will run on April 27 and 28 at the Regal Theatre and will showcase four comedians’ filthiest material each night.
