Breanna InferreraSouthern Gazette

FASCINATORS and suits will be out in full force tomorrow at Ascot Racecourse for the Amelia Park Karrakatta Plate Day – and this year the whole family can get involved.

The Fashions on the Field competition, hosted by Perth Racing, will see mums, dads and kids battle it out on the catwalk in a new family category.

From 2pm, families will be judged on race day styling, season inspired dressing and great use of colour to win prizes valued at more than $15,000.

Perth Racing commercial and marketing manager Louise Ardagh said the family Fashions on the Field competition was not too serious and would hopefully be a bit of fun for families.

“To make all the effort worthwhile, we’re offering Crown and iFly vouchers valued at $1000 for the lucky winners,” she said.

Perth’s finest ladies and gents will also have the opportunity to strut their stuff in the men’s and women’s categories, which kick off at 12.30pm.

“Fashions on the Field are now synonymous with great race days and we’ve seen interest and participant numbers grow year on year, since we hosted the first Autumn Fashions on the Field in 2015,” Ms Ardagh said.

“Autumn Fashions on the Field is a great spectator event too. Every year we see some amazing looks and can appreciate the lengths many have gone to – to finesse their outfits.”

Registrations for the men’s and women’s categories are now open on Perth Racing’s website, while entries for the new family category will only be accepted before 12pm on the day.
