Nadia BudihardjoSouthern Gazette

A COMEDY about an American filmmaker’s personal story on rescuing dogs will have a red-carpet style premiere in Lathlain Function Centre this Saturday.

Loss & Found, written and directed by LA based filmmaker Jon Mancinetti, was accepted in more than 20 film festivals and has been shown in more than 40 cities.

Bikers on HOGS for DOGS, a Perth-based non-profit organisation, contacted Mr Mancinetti to add Australia to the last leg of his US tour.

Mr Mancinetti said the film dealt with the passing of his dog but it was first and foremost a comedy to show the world of rescue in a fun way.

“I’ve found that my story relates to people worldwide, it’s not just something that happened to me in LA,” he said.

“I want to use comedy in a way that educates people to continue to help these animals.”

Bikers on HOGS for DOGS president and founder Jen Adams said this premiere was the organisation’s first collaboration with international participants.

“It’s creating opportunities for dog rescue through events like this and networking abroad,” she said.

“Most people have misconceptions all of the rescue dogs are broken, they’re not, sometimes they have no training or bad things had happened to them.”

Bikers on HOGS for DOGS will support Staffy and Bully Breed Rescue Inc and Everything Beagle Rescue WA with the proceeds from ticket and merchandise sales.
