Comprising of Dave Moran, Mark Thomas and Victoria Park resident Rob Susanto, The Date are celebrating the launch of their second album Sedated with a special performance in Fremantle.
After playing and collaborating on a number of projects since 2000, the trio decided to start writing and gigging together as a group in 2009, and The Date was born.
Susanto said their sound was a mix of hard rock, blues-influenced, melodic and articulated sound played with feeling, fun and fearlessness.
‘We are members of the legendary venue that is the Fly by Night club and we launched the first album at the Flytrap so we’re following tradition,’ he said.
‘Sedated is a view of the world as we saw it in 2011 and 2012 when we wrote the album.
‘Our style developed into our sound very quickly with this album as we were rehearsing three times a week and gigging wherever we could over this period.’
Fresh from a national tour where they promoted their first album Updated, Susanto said the crowd could expect something entertaining.
‘When The Date go on stage expect some new material from the yet to be album as well as old crowd pleasers such as Driver to You, Preying on the Vain and our latest single Let Me Drive, which we released nationally in March,’ he said.
‘They will get a showcase of some of Perth’s best local original talent and of course a great Friday night out not to mention a free copy of our launch CD Sedated.’
The Date is at the Fly by Night Club on July 19, with special guests The Graphic Fiction Heroes and The Red Embers.
