TWELVE City of Belmont schools came together for a moving commemorative Anzac service last week.

The students gathered with Belmont RSL Sub-Branch members, local government representatives, and family and friends in Faulkner Park in Cloverdale on April 4 for the third annual combined schools service.

The students gave stirring choir performances and speeches and each laid a wreath at the War Memorial to spell out the letters ‘Lest We Forget’.

Krista McMeeken, a board member of Celebrate WA and previous state finalist for Young Australian of the Year, gave the Anzac Day address, emphasising the individual stories that go into making Anzac Day memories.

“Our national values as we celebrate on Anzac Day are key to the development of young people,” Ms McMeeken said.

“Leadership, teamwork, community. ”

Belmont RSL Sub-Branch president Alan Richardson said it was fantastic seeing the children attend the service.

The Australian Islamic College, Carlisle Primary, Kewdale Primary, Notre Dame Catholic Primary, Belmay Primary, Cloverdale Primary, St Maria Goretti Primary, Belmont Primary, St Augustine Primary, Redcliffe Primary, Rivervale Primary and Belmont City College attended.
