A treasure trove of toys awaits

Susanne ReillySouthern Gazette

In March, the library received an $8000 Lotterywest grant to put toward new shelving and storage equipment.

The shelves are now stacked with toys of all kinds and the library said new members were always welcome.

To encourage new members, the library will hold a family fun open day after its annual general meeting this Saturday.

In WA, there are about 120 toy resource centres or libraries, where people can go to borrow toys, puzzles or games designed to support children's development and promote learning through play.

Toy libraries mostly cater for children aged up to 8 years old.

President Heather Forrester said everyone was welcome to attend the open day to see what the library did and the children it catered for.

The open day will include games, a bouncy castle and food.
