Artwork installed as Manning Community Hub nears completion

Aaron CorlettSouthern Gazette

THE City of South Perth’s Manning Community Hub is nearing completion with public artwork beginning to be installed.

A series of freestanding and integrated artworks by artist team Susan Milne and Greg Stonehouse is expected to complement the form and colours of the building.

The team’s concept design, Imprint, will use suspended mesh and LED lighting to create a large sculpture, with the artwork to sit boldly in the entrance to the hub.

The artwork also includes a series of approximately 20 light boxes that will be filled with curated objects, images and materials.

A transparent glass canopy that explores immersion and reflection is also included in their concept.

To celebrate the official opening of the new ‘heart’ of Manning, the City will be holding a community open day in February 2017.
