The event unveiled the new Sporting Walk of Fame public artwork at the Aqualife Centre in Somerset Street.
The Sporting Walk of Fame features inspirational sports people with a strong connection to the town who have dedicated their lives to attaining the highest results in their chosen field.
The new piece on Somerset Street has names of all Sporting Walk of Fame inductees and enables visitors to discover the sporting heroes of the town.
‘It’s a pleasure to honour these most recent inductees,’ Mayor Trevor Vaughan said.
‘They’ve made our community proud and provide so much inspiration for the next generation. The town is where it all began for them and it’s fitting that we can pay tribute to their sporting achievements.’
The Sporting Walk of Fame induction has taken place every two years since its inception in 2008.
Potential nominees can be athletes, coaches, umpires or administrative staff.
