Police said the attempted armed robbery happened at a hotel on Kanowna Avenue East in Redcliffe.

Cannington Detectives are investigating the attack, which happened about 11.05pm on Tuesday night.

“Two men on a white motorcycle attended a hotel located on Kanowna Avenue East,” a spokeswoman for police confirmed.

“The pillion passenger, still wearing a motorcycle helmet entered the hotel reception area. The rider stayed with the motorcycle.

“As a hotel staff member went to speak to the man, the man threatened the victim with a hammer.

“The man swung the hammer several times at the staff member, striking him to the head at least once causing a 5cm laceration to his head.

“The victim was able to pull the motorcycle helmet from the man who then fled outside.”

Both the man and the rider both left the area on the motorcycle, and detectives are working to identify the two men caught on CCTV.
