BARTENDERS at Decanter are showing their UGLY side for a good cause.

The Victoria Park bar and restaurant is taking part in the UGLY Bartender of the Year.

The quirky fundraising competition asks bartenders to demonstrate their Understanding, Generous, Likeable You (UGLY) side by raising money for the Leukaemia Foundation’s vital accommodation service.

Decanter manager Craig Wright said it was the first time that the bar and restaurant had taken part in the fundraising campaign.

“It’s a good cause and I figure that every little bit that we can raise helps,” he said.

“We’ve created a special cocktail for the campaign, which is a margarita with blue curacao, which gives it a twist.”

The WA 2017 UGLY Bartender of the Year winner will be announced after November 14 with a travel voucher up for grabs for the top fundraiser, and additional prizes for the overall winner’s venue.

Since the fundraising campaign was launched in WA during 2009, more than $1 million has been raised, with every $80 raised providing one night’s accommodation for people facing the challenges of blood cancer.
