The 28-year-old Manning resident is a Miss Galaxy finalist and said she felt like she had put modelling off long enough.
‘I thought it was time to give it a go, no matter how old I might have been compared with the others,’ the oldest of eight siblings said.
She began modelling mid last year and tried some small Asian-based community pageants, but said she had never done anything as ‘glamorous and serious’ as Miss Galaxy.
‘I decided to participate in Miss Galaxy because I felt it was something that would be fun and exciting, which is has been,’ she said.
‘I hope to learn to have more confidence in public speaking, how to be more lady-like and build beautiful new friendships.’
‘I think being of different ethnic background and my age makes me standout from the rest.’
Other local finalists include Nicole Dowling representing the Belmont area.
– The Miss Galaxy WA state final will be held on January 23, with the national final to be held in April.
