BELMONT barista Ellen Taylor is a star to watch in the coffee-making business, with her signature drink Ginger Cold Snap impressing judges at a national competition in Brisbane.
Ms Taylor (20) was one of Shingle Inn’s top six baristas from all over Australia who were selected to make their four best espressos, four best flat whites and a signature drink.
She won the inaugural category, the 2016 “star to watch” category, awarded by Grinders Coffee at Shingle Inn’s 2016 Barista of the Year championships.
Ms Taylor has worked at the Belmont shop for two and a half years and said teamwork was the key to creating the perfect cup of coffee.
“Working in a cafe is a fast-paced occupation. I feel it is still important to take time and put 100 per cent effort and skill into the process,” she said.
“If it’s getting too difficult to produce coffee at an acceptable speed, I trust that my fellow barista can help me out.”
Ms Taylor‘s favourite coffee to drink is a latte, as she enjoys a creamy coffee with lots of foam.
Her favourite coffee to make for customers is a flat white.
