Belmont also received $20,000 for the implementation of foreshore stabilisation works at Garvey Park.

Mayor Phil Marks said the City was delighted to receive the critical funding for the project, which would start this summer.

‘The project will protect 68 linear metres of foreshore adjacent to Ascot Racecourse containing large remnant trees of high retention value as well as an improved path linkage,’ Cr Marks said.

‘This is one of many restoration and stabilisation works planned along the Belmont foreshore.’

Mr Jacobs said similar financial support from councils and volunteers boosted the total value of the works to more than $1.8 million.
