THE Belmont Men’s Shed will purchase wood and metal equipment after receiving a $20,000 grant from the State Government.

The grant was announced as Belmont MLA Cassie Rowe gave Premier Mark McGowan a tour of the facility.

Belmont Men’s Shed chairman Brian Carey said the grant would provide them with opportunities to work on new projects.

“I spoke with Cassie Rowe before the election and told her we can’t develop programs without the equipment,” he said.

Ms Rowe said she was proud that the Government had committed to upgrading facilities at the shed and looked forward to seeing what the members could achieve with the new equipment.

“Isolation is a big problem for some in our community, particularly after retirement, and joining the local shed is another way to keep men engaged and connected, and the local community benefits,” she said.
