Four years ago she snatched Belmont with a handful of votes from Labor, which held the electorate for 25 years.
She acknowledged the public backlash against Premier Colin Barnett may have a negative impact on votes, saying she was concentrating on Belmont and what was best for its residents.
The former mayor said she was proud of her role as an employee of the people.

She said Belmont has its own identity.
“Look at its coat of arms; there’s a plane, a racehorse, the kilns. What does Vic Park have? A tree,” she said.
Mrs Godfrey admitted there was a stigma associated with Belmont due to the area being left behind for so long.
“In the past four years we’ve achieved more than the last lot did in 20,” she said.
She pinpointed high density public housing as Belmont’s biggest issue and alleged the data from Department of Housing was skewed by the use of percentages. The figures are calculated based on the number of houses on a street, which can increase due to infill development, rather than the number of public housing tenants.
“When its done that way the numbers don’t change,” she said.
