Belmont residents get chance to brush up on artistic skills with Brooks

CREATIVE Belmont residents will have a chance to show off their artistic skills at several workshops held by the City of Belmont.

Award-winning artist Val Brooks will be taking Painting with Pastels, workshops inspiring attendees to create vibrant paintings with chalk pastels. Develop simple techniques for applying colour and maximising the impact of paintings using light and shade.

Free Nature in the Park workshops for kids will be held throughout January.

Artist Clare Detchon will be on hand to teach kids at different ages how to create small sculptures out of natural materials.

Parents must be in attendance but no experience is necessary.

Children aged 2 to 5 should attend the January 12 or January 15 workshops, at Garvey Park and Tomato Lake respectively, from 9.30am.

Children aged 6-12 will be able to attend the workshop on January 14 at 9.30am at Tomato Lake.
