Belmont residents helping Starick bring Christmas cheer to victims of domestic violence

A GROUP of City of Belmont locals are doing their bit to improve Christmas for victims of domestic violence by organising donations to Starick.

Non-perishable items can be dropped off at boxes at Belmont Supa IGA, Belmont MLA Cassie Rowe’s office and Starick’s Op Shop until December 22.

The drive has been organised by administrators of the Facebook group Belmont Community Watch.

Organiser and Cloverdale resident Lisa Cooney said as the page often posted about crime, they wanted to wanted to promote “good stuff” instead of doom and gloom.

“We wanted to support a Belmont charity that was doing good work in the area,” she said.

“It’s a good opportunity to support women who are doing it tough.”
