Belmont winter clothing appeal gets warm reception

A WINTER warmers appeal in Belmont has gathered more than 750 items of clothing for people in need.

From June 6 to 20, Belmont Forum collected good quality, pre-loved jumpers and coats to distribute to two charities.

Women’s and children’s clothes have been passed along to Starick Services, a local organisation protecting women and children from domestic violence.

Men’s garments have been donated to Perth Homeless Support Group, who have been distributing the winter warmers directly to displaced people over the past few weekends.

Centre Manager Alexandra McAuliffe said the shopping centre has been overwhelmed with the generosity of customers.

“We’d like to thank them from the bottom of our heart for making our winter appeal so successful and we hope they realise what a huge difference they have made to those in need this winter,” she said.
