Belmont’s Here’s Luck Lottery Centre sells another division one-winning Lotto ticket

Sophie MooreSouthern Gazette

The winning ticket, worth $675,000, was sold at Here’s Luck Lottery Centre at Belmont Forum.

It is the third Division One prize that Here’s Luck has sold in the past five months, with the store selling 25 in total over the past 13 years.

“We have a lot of syndicates,” owner Sel Selvendra said. “We have store syndicates and official Lotterywest syndicates. At this time of year, a lot of offices are pooling together and choosing their own numbers.”

Mr Selvendra said he saw a good mix of winners, but the majority buying Lotto were battlers with a Lotto dream.

Mr Selvendra said Here’s Luck had been the setting for many wonderful stories.

“There was a woman with three children and her husband had walked out the week before and she was desperate, she only had $3 left.

“I said, you can’t buy a ticket for that much but you can buy one game of System 7 for $2.97 – she won Division One.”

Selling a winning ticket brings attention and business to Mr Selvendra’s store, but he said it also gave him great pleasure.

“WA is the luckiest and best place to buy lottery tickets in the country,” he said.

“At the end of the day, we’re raising money for the local community and helping a lot of people and for me that’s very emotionally satisfying.”
