Best back in the frame

The issue was not discussed at last week’s agenda briefing but tonight councillors will vote on whether to rescind part of a motion passed in 2012 that resulted in his portrait being put in to storage.

It was removed because it did not conform to council policy.

Mr Best said he had moved on from the issue but it was nice of the council to reconsider the issue.

At the August 2012 meeting, the council supported a motion that if Mr Best did not re-sit for another portrait, the existing one would be put in storage.

Council staff has recommended that councillors agree that the portrait of the former mayor be displayed with other mayoral portraits in the Council Members room.
