‘Black swans’ bag a good time by the river

Staff ReporterSouthern Gazette

The inaugural Rotary Festival of the Black Swan brought primary school students together to enjoy fun educational activities about the history and preservation of Perth’s Swan and Canning rivers.

The event was organised by the Rotary Club of South Perth and Burswood, South Perth Historical Society and Swan River Trust.

John Septimus Roe Anglican Community School and Ardross, Dryandra and Carlisle primary school students spent the afternoon modelling black swan fashion creations, dancing to a live band, making recycled art and craft and competing in a handmade boat relay.
