BREAKING: Denpasar Airport closed due to volcanic ash

Ben SmithSouthern Gazette

DENPASAR Airport has been closed, leaving holiday-goers in limbo.

The airport will be closed for at least 18 hours and all flights in and out of Bali have been cancelled, as Mount Agung continues to erupt and disperse ash into the atmosphere.

Indonesian authorities have raised the volcano alert to its highest level and ordered people within 10km to evacuate.

The announcement comes after all Jetstar flights to and from Bali today were cancelled early this morning, leaving people stranded at Perth Airport.
