Brewed Laughter at Dutch Trading Co

COMEDIANS will pack out a popular bar in Victoria Park throughout April to combine two beloved pastimes: laughter and beer.

Brewed Laughter will hit the Dutch Trading Co on Albany Highway across the Town of Victoria Park’s inaugural Arts Season.

Vulture Culture event organiser Leigh Chalmers spearheaded Brewed Laughter and told Southern Gazette the idea was born out of a former Fringe Festival show.

“Initially it came out of a Fringe show, we had a comedian who knew a lot about wine so we thought why not do a wine tasting comedy show,” Mr Chalmers said.

“It stemmed from that big outdoor event a few years ago, and I thought ‘hey we should do that with beer’.”

Each night punters will be presented with a board of beers to taste as comedians take to the stage to put on an evening of entertainment described as a mix between a game show, comedy show and beer festival.

“They’ll do a bit of comedy to get the crowd up and going, most of them have got alcohol related jokes,” Mr Chalmers said.

“There’s some crowd banter, then at the end there’s a show called Beer or No Beer which is based on a game show.

“It’s a nice way to round it out, it’s pretty relaxed and plus you get to taste some delicious beer, it’s win-win.”

Brewed Laughter will appear at the Dutch Trading Co every Friday in April.
