THE developers of a 28-storey apartment complex in Burswood have been given until February 2019 to start construction.

Applicant TPG + Place Match were given an extension today to build the 150 apartment development on Riversdale Road by the Metro Joint Development Assessment Panel.

The developers were previously given the green light for the $50 million apartment complex but its “scale and complexity” was given as reason the delay in construction.

The development had previously been rejected in January 2016 because the magnitude and scale of the development would have a “significant potential to pre-empt planning outcomes for the Precinct and compromise the orderly and proper planning of the locality”.

According to the Town of Victoria Park’s report, when the development was approved, the council had commenced work on a master plan for Burswood Station East and it intended for it to be progressed in 2018.
