Bus crash in Ascot sends 10 people to hospital

A TRANSPERTH bus has left the road and crashed near an apartment building in Perth, sending 10 people to hospital.

The bus crashed left Great Eastern Highway in Ascot at 5.30pm on Tuesday, and paramedics took the injured people to four different hospitals.

None of the injuries were life threatening.

“St John sent nine ambulances to the scene as well as an area manager and clinical support paramedic,” a St John Ambulance spokesman said.

About 50 people were reported to have been on the bus, which left the road and ran down and embankment before coming to rest

Police are still trying to piece together the circumstances surrounding the crash, with some reports suggesting the driver may have blacked out.

Crews worked for hours into the night to clean up the scene.
