Victim Speaks Out After Car Hits Riverdale Home

UPDATE: AN elderly Rivervale woman who was lucky to escape injury after a car ploughed into her home this week has opened up about the experience.

Police say a blue Holden sedan refused to stop for Belmont Police officers at 10.09pm on Tuesday on Great Eastern Highway in Rivervale.

The male driver sped off when police turned on their emergency lights.

The man led police on a short chase through Rivervale but police lost sight of the vehicle.

Shortly after, the car crashed into a house on Barry Street, causing extensive damage.

A 70-year-old woman, who asked not to be named, was inside the house and only knew the car had hit her home when she stepped outside.

“I heard the screech of the brakes, an almighty bang and then glass splintering,” she said.

“I actually thought there had been a crash on the corner… I didn’t feel the house shudder at all.”

“Then I opened the door and went ‘oh, there’s a car there’,” she said.

The two occupants of the car fled the scene on foot and are yet to be located.

“They must have been very quick-footed because it must have only been a minute until I stepped outside to see their car,” she said.

Insurance will cover the repairs to her home.
