UPDATE: Homicide Squad detectives have charged a 36-year-old man from Carlisle, who is known to the victim, with murder.

He has been refused bail and is due to appear in the Perth Magistrates Court on Thursday (September 6, 2018).

5pm: The body of a missing mother-of-two was found buried in the back of her Carlisle home this afternoon.

Fahima Yusuf was reported missing yesterday to police, with her Weston Street neighbours saying they last saw her during the early hours of Friday morning.

The police investigation into the 32-year-old’s whereabouts turned into a suspected homicide today after suspicious circumstances led detectives to undertake an extensive forensic search of the property.

Homicide Squad detectives cordoned off the street this morning while a 36-year-old man, believed to be Mrs Yusuf’s husband, assisted them with inquiries.

As the home was cordoned off by police this morning, a carpet cleaner arrived who had been booked the day before.

The property is home to Mrs Yusuf, her husband and their two children.

It’s understood that the Department of Child Protection officers were called to the home yesterday and undertook a welfare check before police searched the property.

Anyone with information on the death should contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 or make a report online.
