Lauren PilatSouthern Gazette

THE Carlisle man accused of killing the mother of his children has appeared in Perth Magistrates Court.

Ahmed Dawood Seedat (36) was charged with murder yesterday by Homicide Squad detectives after an investigation into the whereabouts of his wife Fahima Yusuf.

The 32-year-old mother was reported missing by her family earlier this week, with neighbours on Watson Street saying they last saw her on Friday morning.

Cannington police responded to the missing person report and later brought in the Homicide Squad.

Mr Seedat had been assisting police with their investigation and was interviewed by officers on Tuesday night.

Homicide detectives cordoned off the couple’s family home on Wednesday and forensically examined the property on what neighbours said was typically a “very quiet street”.

Police found the body of Ms Yusuf yesterday afternoon buried in the backyard of the family home.

Mr Seedat was charged with murder soon after his wife’s body was found.

He appeared in Perth Magistrate’s Court today and was refused bail.

He will reappear on September 26 in Stirling Gardens Magistrates Court.

The home on Weston Street remains cordoned off and police are still at the scene.

A man who said he was a relative of both the victims and the accused was present for the hearing, however he declined to comment further.
